Om social proof og Professor Cialdini

Social proof-tanken anvendes inden for postionerings- & brandingteori

Norbert Kraihamer har kaldt word of mouth (mund-til-mund)-marketing for det ældste og det bedste medie i verden. Red Bull byggede deres positioneringskampagne op omkring koncetet. Keller skriver:

"Maeteschitz reasoned that the best method to get consumers to try the product was testimonials from pers who bought into Red Bull. […] Word of mouth drove awareness of the brand in the early stages of entering a market. As knowledge of the product spread, a buzz would build around the brand. Red Bull supplmented its word-of-mouth strategy with even sponsorships, athlete endorsers, sampling programs, point-of-piurchase marketing and select electronic media buys. Eventually, consumers everywhere would be talking about (and purchasing) Red Bull. (Keller, Best Practice Cases in Branding, 2003).
